Since
John
Harrison invented and perfected the Marine Chronometer,
our modern day timepieces have developed
considerably. Although, many fine watchmakers
produce mechanical movements to equal the achievements
of John Harrison, today most movements are based on the oscillations
of a quartz crystal. Whereas, at least as many do
not have a movement at all, being digital, with
electronic liquid crystal displays.
