Recently Dr Richard Hyde from the Centre for Sustainable Design of the University of Queensland Australia, was in Lombok to make an official presentation of a World first, The Green Globe Award for Sustainable Development in Tourism Design. Sundancer was the first project in Indonesia and in fact, the world, to be designed and built adhering to the Green Globe standards of environmental design.
The Certificate was awarded to the Sundancer Resort Development Company PT. Wisata Bahagia Indonesia on 13th July 2004, and also further awards were presented the Design Team and Building Developer. recognizing them as the first individuals to quality according to the strict environmental development guidelines. This award also reflects that Indonesia is the first country to train experts in the field of environmental design.
Green Globe is the global environmental benchmarking and certification program for the Travel and Tourism Industry and sets the international standard for environmental design policy. A policy to implement the Kyoto Protocol based on Agenda 21 (the blueprint for sustainable development adopted by 182 countries at the United Nations Earth Summit).
Sundancer at Lombok applies the highest principles of Green Globe sustainable development with RO, biowaste, solar, styrofoam installation, water system, following strict guidelines with sun-lighted windows for the best advantage, and all constructed to the highest ecological standards.
